In July 2012 the winds of Gloucestershire are blowing their way to Weymouth to help lift the sails of the competitors’ boats and windsurfers as they compete in the London 2012 Olympic Games.

 Here is your opportunity to whip up a windy work of art and be a creative olympic winner! Submit your poem, joke, dance, short story, film, sculpture, play, song, painting, photograph, or musical composition and you could win a ‘gold’, ‘silver’ or ‘bronze’ medal to be awarded by Old Mother Gloucestershire herself at the Launch of the Wind Vessel on April 28^th 2012 at the Brunel Goodshed, Stroud.

 In July 2012 this huge wind machine (built by Stroud College School of Art students) will parade through the streets of Weymouth and settle on the promenade amongst six other wind sculptures from the seven counties of the South West, to take part in the ‘Battle For The Winds’ spectacular outdoor event which heralds the beginning of the sailing olympics. Your artwork could be part of that event!

  ▲ The subject of the artwork is WIND and GLOUCESTERSHIRE

 ▲ Entrants must live in Gloucestershire and have a GL postcode

 ▲ The work must be original and have not been published, performed,    

         or publicly-exhibited before.

 ▲  There is no age limit for competitors.

 ▲ Judges will award ‘gold’, ‘silver’ and ‘bronze’ ‘medals’ (designed by  

   Stroud College School of Art students) to the winners in each category

 ▲  The judges’ decision is final

meanwhile in Stroud College costume design department students will shortly be starting work on creating Wind Catcher costumes

and in the graphic design department students will soon start designing Gold Silver and bronze medals to be awarded to the Gloucestershire Creative Olympics winners

and Bournemouth Arts College MA student Sarah Dicks has designed 5 stunning costumes for the five Gloucestershire characters who will be sailing in the Wind Vessel
