"Here Today" my monthly chat show 'an evening with Jo and Marcus'

Our third gig was a happy one last night November 1st at Star Anise Arts Cafe - a warm friendly audience of 39  enjoyed Paul Bienek's fabulous rendering of the classic banjo piece - duelling banjos - duelling with himself - and our Mystery Guest Maureen Rutter who is no mystery to many Stroudies, but we can't get enough of her. She talked movingly about her roots and connection with the North East of England, and about being old and being treated with impatience by the great British Public because she is old, and with limited vision, not being able to be as quick off the mark as she used to be. She reminded us that insode every old person is the person they have always been , whether 25, 35, 55, etc. Marcus Moore was beaten in Match of the Day by his 12 year old grandaughter Lola who volunteered from the audience to see how many star anise spices she could balance on her face before they fell off. Marcus seemed to have the advantage of facial hair to lodge the spices on but in fact the little blighters slipped off the slippery hairy surface and Lola won.
